Volleyball team ready for first season

Northwestern girls volleyball players had always hoped to play for a high school team. Some of them had been playing for the Northwestern Volleyball Club since middle school, competing against other high school teams during the spring club season.

Madison Burns has accomplished a lot of great things in swimming, especially for a girl coming from a high school with no swim team. The Northwestern Lehigh grad, who holds the PIAA record in the 200 individual medley, recently competed at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, finishing 110th.

The event featured the best swimmers from around the country, all fighting for the relatively few spots available on the Olympic Swim Team that competed in London.

Horner helped both her teams improve

When Lauren Horner's high school athletic career began, both her teams were starting a rebuilding process.

During her career she helped both programs return to contention and lay a foundation for future success.

"My whole class helped improve both teams," said Horner, a field hockey midfielder and softball short stop.

Bachman excelled in all three sports

For the past three years Payton Bachman has been a fixture not only on his three sports teams, but also around any Northwestern gyms and athletic fields.

When he doesn't have a game or practice, he's probably with friends cheering on another Tiger team. Last year he was one of the school's top athletes and biggest fans, now he's one of it's most proud alumni.
