Joette M. Reitz, 60, of Slatington, died Dec. 11, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

She was the wife of Jeffrey A. Reitz.

Born Feb. 3, 1958, in Allentown, she was the daughter of Lorraine A. (Blose) VanNorman of Slatington and the late Ted C. VanNorman.

She was a customer service representative at Kmart, Walnutport, for the last 25 years.

Before that, she worked at the former Kern’s Furniture, Slatedale, for several years.

She was a 1976 graduate of Northern Lehigh High School.

Kenneth C. Longenbach, 81, of Slatington, died Dec. 13, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was the husband of the late Janet Schertzinger and Lucille (Biery) Longenbach.

Born May 5, 1937, in Allentown, her was the son of the late Clyde and Anna Longenbach.

He was employed at Tyler Pipe, Macungie, before retiring.

His survivors include daughters June M. Womer of Hanover Township, and Tana D. Krum of Slatington; siblings Franklin, Carl, Dennis and Marlene; six grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Joseph Zeller — a man for all seasons — dies at age 100

Joseph “Joe” Richard Zeller, 100, a dedicated public servant, always willing to share his century spanning life experiences with young or old, has departed from his Earthly mission.

Joe, born Sept. 19, 1918, in the tiny town of Campus, Ill., was the son of Carl and Frances (Kunkel) Zeller.

He died Dec. 12, 2018, in his favorite room of the house he proudly built in Lowhill Township.

Joe believed being positive would achieve personal goals and every generation would meet their challenges to keep this nation strong.

Linda M. George, 55, of Macungie, died Dec. 12, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was the companion of Keith Jones.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Thomas. G. Wetzel and the late Carol G. (Zoch) Hoppes.

She worked for Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation for 20 years as a nurse’s aide, and bartended at the Alburtis Fire Company Social Club for many years.

A member of the Alburtis Fire Company, she was like a mother and grandmother to the firefighters.

She was also a member of the Alburtis Rod and Gun Club.

William A. LaFrankie

William A. LaFrankie, 87, of Schnecksville, died on Dec. 12, 2018, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus.

He and his wife Yvette (Leroux) LaFrankie were married 37 years on May 16.

Born May 27, 1931, in Elizabeth, Allegheny County, he was the son of the late Robert and Susan (Heidrick) LaFrankie.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army, as an military policeman during the Korean War era.

He was the general manager of PET Inc., Allentown, from 1964-95.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.

Ronald R. Roth, 86, of Orefield, died Dec. 11, 2018, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown Campus.

He and his wife LaRue M. (Hoffman) Roth were married 45 years on April 7.

Born Oct. 4, 1932, in Slatington, he was the son of the late Howard A. and Hattie E. (Wanamaker) Roth.

A 1950 graduate of Slatington High School, he faithfully and honorably served his county in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era earning the rank of corporal.

He was a truck driver at Dries Building Supply, Macungie, for more than 37 years before retiring.

John D. Miller

John D. Miller, 51, died Nov. 19, 2018.

Born in Coaldale, he was a 1985 graduate of Whitehall High School and a 1989 graduate of Penn State University.

He had a fulfilling career as a sergeant for the Allentown Police Department from which he retired in March 2007.

He loved family, Penn State, the Dallas Cowboys and fishing off the dock in Ocean City, Md.

He enjoyed spending time watching his sons play baseball, creating incredible gourmet meals and gardening.

Richard Joseph Witt

Richard Joseph “Rick” Witt, 53, of Germansville, died on Dec. 6, 2018, in Breinigsville.

Born May 29, 1965, in Fountain Hill, he was the son of Donald G. and Joan (Weber) Witt of Germansville.

He was an electrician at G.C. Electric Co., Allentown, since 1985.

A 1984 graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, he was an active firefighter, for more than 25 years, currently serving as assistant chief and past president of Goodwill Fire Co. No. 1, Germansville.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting.

Janice M. George

Janice M. George, 81, of Allentown, died peacefully Dec. 3, 2018, in her home with her family members by her side.

She and her husband Dale A. George were married 58 years.

Born May 5, 1937, in Buffalo, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Merle and Ethel (Wagner) Porter.

A registered nurse, she worked at Abington Hospital for several years before having a family.

She volunteered at the Tree Top Gift Shop, Lehigh Valley Hospital for 35 years.

Additionally, she worked in the family business, Kleckner and Sons, Whitehall and Emmaus.
