Shannon L. Wanko, 46, of Breinigsville, died March 12, 2018, at home in the presence of her loving family.
Wife, mother of twins and mentor to many, she was a devoted first-grade teacher for 22 years at Sheckler Elementary School, Catasauqua.
Active in the community, she was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, Alburtis, where she worshipped and volunteered her entire life.
She was also an active volunteer with the Wheels of Time Street Rod Association.
Doris E. Dieter, 88, from Allentown, died on March 6, 2018, in St. Luke’s University Hospital, Bethlehem.
She was the wife of the late Howard Benton Dieter.
Born July 24, 1929, in Slatington, she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Evelyn Mae (Krause) Fenstermacher.
She was a production line technician at PET Milk, Allentown, for 27 years before retiring in 1991.
Since her formal retirement, she accompanied her husband as co-pilot of his tractor trailer, as they traveled extensively throughout the United States for 13 years.
Donald R. Anthony, 89, of Allentown, formerly of Northampton, died March 7, 2018, in Whitehall Manor.
He and his wife Florence M. (Morrissey) Anthony were married 57 years last Dec. 10.
Born May 16, 1928, in Quakertown, he was the son of the late John P. and Mildred E. (Sherer) Anthony.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army with the 623rd Field Artillery Battalion during the Korean War and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
Clara M. Koch, 77, of Allentown, died March 11, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband Richard M. Koch Sr. were married 60 years last April 27.
Born April 16, 1940, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Jessie (Trapp) Ettinger.
She will forever be remembered as a loving wife and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Dorothy J. Bretz, 86, of New Tripoli, formerly of Allentown, died March 9, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She was the wife of the late Ray M. Bretz who died in 2003.
Born in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Glennon Sr. and Anna (Gross) Becker.
She was a pocket setter at Emmaus Manufacturing.
She attended Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Western Salisbury Church, Allentown, and enjoyed attending Schnecksville Senior Citizens.
LaVonne E. Gingerich, 92, of Allentown, died March 11, 2018, at home. Born Dec. 18, 1925, in Kenneth, Minn., she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Hilda (Hoveland) Watts.
Her husband of 51 years, Bernard A. Gingerich, died in 2001.
A devoted wife, mother and volunteer, she volunteered in the sewing room at the Good Shepherd Home for 26 years and received the annual Human Relations Award in 1982 for her inspiration and service.
In 1989, she received the Good Shepherd Raker Memorial Award and, in 1997, the Lehigh County Senior Citizens Outstanding Volunteer Award.
Judith H. Brown, 63, of Allentown, died March 10, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice Unit, Salisbury Township.
Born Nov. 10, 1954, in Allentown, she was the daughter of Dolores K. (Kammerer) Brown of Allentown and the late Joseph H. Brown.
She was a loyal and dedicated receptionist and executive assistant at Jaindl Farms, Orefield, for 30 years.
Known for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit, she will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Timothy J. Galle, 66, of Towamensing Township, Lehighton, died March 6, 2018, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
He and his wife Carol M. (Ehritz) Galle were married on Feb 14, 1992.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of Jane (Lynch) Galle-Finger of Bethlehem and the late H. Robert Galle.
He was a control room monitor for the Bethlehem Water Authority.
A 1969 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School, he later served stateside in the Navy during the Vietnam era, as a collection cryptologic technician seaman striker.
Hugh M. Richards, 64, of Dallas, Luzerne County, died March 11, 2018, in Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia.
He and his wife Linda J. (Haven) Richards were married 39 years last Nov. 18.
Born Oct. 16, 1953, in Kingston, he was the son of the late Hugh M. and Jean (Fetch) Richards.
He was a gas well farmer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kirby J., wife of Nicholas J. Kurtz, of Schnecksville; and a granddaughter Taran J. Kurtz.
His service will be private, at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
Roy E. Danner Sr., 71, of Allentown, died March 5, 2018, in the hospice unit of Lehigh Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He and his wife Sheila M. (Hawk) Danner were married nearly 53 years.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Samuel H. and Evelyn L. (Shaffer) Danner.
For 38 years, he owned and operated Roy Danner Paving, which his family will continue to operate.
Before that, he was a mechanic at Jack Dankel Chevrolet, later becoming the used car sales manager.
