Ruth M. Rees, 97, of Orefield, died Dec. 8, 2017, in Abington Manor Memory Care Village, Easton.

She was the wife of the late David F. Rees Sr.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Robert J. and Jennie E. (Eisenhard) McCracken.

A graduate of Allentown High School, she was the secretary to the owner of CutlerHammer, now Eaton, for more than 25 years before retiring.

She was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall, and volunteered at Parkland Community Library.

James J. Price, 85, of New Tripoli, died Dec. 11, 2017, at home.

He was the widower of Jane J. (Moyer) Price.

Born in Coopersburg, he was a son of the late Henry M. and Florence E. (Keck) Price.

He retired from Penn-DOT several years ago, where he was a supervisor.

Before that, he worked in soil conservation in Clearfield and at Bethlehem Steel.

He was a member of Springfield Church of the Brethren, Coopersburg.

He honorably served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Jeffrey A. “Jake” Faust, 58, of Upper Macungie Township, died Dec. 15, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem.

He and his wife Tammy L. (Heisler) Faust were married more than 37 years.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Richard W. “Sonny” and Mary M. (Zimmerman) Faust.

He was co-owner of Faust Towing, Wescosville.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Trexlertown.

Irene M. Dietrich, 89, formerly of New Tripoli and Kempton, died Dec. 12, 2017, in Cornerstone Living, New Tripoli.

Born in Lynn Township, she was a daughter of the late Francis A. and Elsie M. (Howerter) Hamm.

She and her late husband, Ethan O. Dietrich, were married 64 years at the time of his death in 2010.

A member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Stony Run, she was also a member of Union Fire Company No. 1 Beneficial Association. Hamburg.

Thomas M. Adams, 63, of Breinigsville, formerly of Astoria, N.Y., died Dec. 11, 2017, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township after being stricken at home.

He and his wife Barbara (Brunning) Adams were married 41 years.

Born July 23, 1954 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late James and Louise (Barone) Adams.

He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era.

Larry Ritter, of Bradenton, Fla., died on Dec. 16, 2017.

Born Jan. 27, 1936, in Egypt, Whitehall Township, he was a son of the late Althea (Kern) and Samuel Ritter.

He married Gloria (Mullins) Ritter on Jan. 24, 1981.

A 1954 graduate of Whitehall High School, he attended Lehigh Carbon Community College.

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-59 achieving the rank of radarman second class.

He was a mechanical engineer for General Electric for 28 years and Trane for 12 years.

Janet A. Smith, 64, of Slatington, died peacefully Dec. 21, 2017, in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Lower Saucon Township.

She was the wife of the late Daryl L. Smith.

Born Dec. 13, 1953, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Katherine (Ott) Soha.

She was a sewing machine operator at the former Tama Mfg. formerly in Allentown and Northampton for many years.

Richard C. Bond, 78, of Kempton, died on Dec. 23, 2017, in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 17.

He and his wife Janet I. (Bailey) Bond were married for 59 years.

Born Nov. 7, 1939, in Albany Township, he was the son of the late Clarence A. and Florence E. (Fister) Bond.

A 1957 graduate of Kutztown Area High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the former Kutztown State College, now Kutztown University.

Robert F. Van Duzer Jr.

Robert F. “Bob” Van Duzer Jr. died Dec. 21, 2017, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

He and his wife Mary Alice (Quigney) Van Duzer were married 48 years in August.

Born in Summit, N.J., he was the son of the late Robert F. Sr. and Edith S. (Walters) Van Duzer.

A longtime resident of Allentown, he was originally from Madison, N.J., where he was valedictorian of Madison High School Class of 1958.

He was a member of the Princeton University Class of 1962 and a graduate of Florida State University in 1965.
