Police collecting winter coats

Upper Mac

Upper Macungie police are collecting gently used winter coats and jackets for those in need in the Lehigh Valley, including Upper Macungie residents.

Drop off coats and jackets in the bin in the lobby, (open 24 hours a day) of the police department, 37 Grim Road, Breinigsville.

Cookbook now available

ALLENTOWN

Allentown Public Library is offering an appetizing cookbook called “What’s Cooking at the Library: 100 Years of Good Taste.”

The centennial cookbook is priced to sell. For an additional fee, purchase a navy blue canvas book bag to go with the cookbook.

The holiday deal is running through Dec. 29 at the library’s front desk.

The spiral-bound contains 344 recipes contributed by more than 30 library employees and families.

Student day pass now available

LANTA

All Catholic high schools in Lehigh and Northampton counties will make available to their students the new LANTA Student Day Pass.

The discount program, first introduced last January in the Allentown School District, enables schools to sell the $1 passes on campus for an unlimited-ride day pass. The regular LANTA Day Pass is $4.

Allentown Central Catholic, Bethlehem Catholic, and Notre Dame in Easton are all participating in the program.

Friedens church

Friedens Lutheran Church Choirs, 9727 Red Road, Kempton (Stony Run), is presenting its children’s musical “The One & Only Original Christmas Factory” 10 a.m. Dec. 9.

The One & Only Original Christmas Factory will provide guest with a way to enhance the meaning of Christmas for both children and adults.

Many of the songs are light and fun…several are quite emotional…but each is based on the knowledge that God has filled the world with reminders of His love at Christmas.

All guest have to do is take the time to see and appreciate them.

Event for Porter on Dec. 16

FUNDRAISER

A tricky tray and basket raffle will be held to help Northwestern Lehigh High School student Porter Lilley, 15, on Dec. 16 at the North End Gun Club, 7211 Herber Road, New Tripoli.

Porter, whoi has acute lymphoblastic leukemia, was almost four years in remission when the disease returned.

Doors open at noon. Drawings start at 3 p.m.

Specials and 50/50 tickets, food, drinks and baked goods will be available to purchase.

All ages are welcome to attend.

Winners must be present to receive their prizes.
