Child seat check on Sept. 21

The Allentown Health Bureau and its partner agencies will conduct a car seat check event as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, which runs from Sept. 15-21.

The safety check will take place 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 21 at Lehigh Valley Pediatrics, 401 N 17th St, Allentown.

For appointments at this safety check, call 484-523-5254.

The car seat check event is open to the public. In Pennsylvania, children under the age of two must be secured in a rear-facing car seat, and children under the age of four must be restrained in an approved child safety seat.

Halloween bash on Oct. 19

Kempton

The Kempton Community Center is presenting its fourth annual trunk or treat event 6-9:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the center, 83 Community Center Drive, Kempton.

There will be hayrides, games, music and prizes.

Costume parade starts at 6 p.m. Set up your vehicle trunk between 4:30-6 p.m.

Admission is free to attend. Food and drinks will be available to purchase.

Bring a carved pumpkin to enter for a prize.

Group to meet on Sept. 19

Pennsylvania German Friends will meet 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1933 Hanover Ave., Allentown.

Creating simple Dutch sentences will be the focus of this free meeting. The public is invited to attend.

The group meets the third Thursday of each month at the church, except April, July and August.

Parking is available in the lot across Tacoma Street. Use ground floor office entrance.

VIN etching on Sept. 17

AAA East Central is partnering with the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force to host a free vehicle identification number etching event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 at AAA East Central, 2072 Downyflake Lane, Allentown.

AAA members and the general public can receive the VIN etching on their vehicle windows to make them a less likely target for car theft.

Thieves generally avoid VIN-etched vehicles as all of the glass must be stripped and replaced before the vehicle can be unloaded or resold.

The Allentown Health Bureau and its partner agencies will conduct two car seat check events in the city next week as part of National Child Passenger Safety Week, which runs from Sept. 15-21.

The first car seat check will be held 9 a.m. – noon Sept. 19 at Cedar Beach Park Parking Lot, 2600 Parkway Blvd, Allentown.

Tickets available for Gold Gala

Tickets are now available for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of Lehigh Valley’s Hearts of Gold Gala 5-11 p.m. on Nov. 9 at the Centennial Event Center, Center Valley.

There will be a silent auction, cocktail hour, music, dancing and the much-anticipated live auction featuring artwork created by local cancer kids.

Proceeds go toward helping local pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Forgotten Felines and Fidos, 6022 Mountain Road, Germansville, is offering a vaccination clinic 10 a.m. to noon for dogs, and noon to 2 p.m. for cats Sept. 15.

The shelter will also be celebrating its 25th anniversary from noon-5 p.m. Sept. 21.

The party will feature live music by The Acoustic Project, spirits tastings courtesy of Blue Mountain Vineyards, 8 Oaks Distillery and Saucony Creek Brewery, a guest appearance by B104’s Steph, of Mike & Steph in the morning, kids’ games, shelter tours and more.
