Certificates offered to vets

Korean War veterans who served their country honorably may be eligible for a Certificate of Appreciation from the United States Secretary of Defense, according to state Sen. Pat Browne, R-16th.

Any veteran who served in Korea between June 25, 1950 and July 27, 1953, may be eligible for this citation, signed by the Secretary of Defense.

Craftfest on Nov. 10, 11

The Women's Guild of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Orefield is having its annual Craftfest from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 10 and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Parish Center.

This event will feature beautiful crafts and themed gift baskets, just in time for holiday shopping.

The Unique Boutique has vendor displays offering more gift ideas. Children can buy affordable presents for family members at the Santa Shoppe.

Santa will stop in for a visit on Saturday.

Craft show on Nov. 10, 11

Reading-Berks Chapter of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen will be having its 63rd annual fine arts and crafts holiday show with more than 75 artisans 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 11 in Keystone Hall, Kutztown University.

The show will offer museum quality examples of contemporary and traditional Pennsylvania folk artwork produced by members of the Reading-Berks Chapter and other juried craftsmen who are members of the Pennsylvania Guild.

Kutztown University and other college art students will also display and sell their work.

Drug discount card available

Lehigh Valley residents have access to free discount prescription drug cards, compliments of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The Valley Rx card provides savings up to 75 percent on prescription drugs and is available to chamber members and non-members at every chamber office, at chamber events or cards can be downloaded at lehighvalleychamber.org.

The Valley Rx card was launched to help uninsured and underinsured residents afford their prescription medications.

Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave, South Whitehall Township, is offering a Night at the Movies 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 13.

The library's group for adults, Book Quest, will meet to discuss "Triangle," a novel by Katharine Weber 7 p.m. Nov. 14. New members are welcome.

Spend a fun afternoon swapping knitting tips and tricks with the Knitting Circle 1:30-4 p.m. on Nov. 15. Just bring your knitting materials and enthusiasm. For knitters of all ages and skill levels.

Lehigh County TRIAD and Sen. Bob Mensch, R-24th, will be honoring the Veterans at Emeritus of Allentown and all veterans Nov. 13 at Emeritus of Allentown, 1545 Greenleaf St., Allentown.

A free continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. folllowed by Mensch's presentation and the regular meeting.

Food drive on Nov. 10

Boy Scouts and volunteers from the local Minsi Trails Boy Scout Council will be out Nov. 10 collecting non-perishable food for their 26th annual Scouting For Food community food drive.

Door hangers were delivered throughout many area neighborhoods Oct. 20 letting residents know about the food drive.
