Ebenezer UCC fall bazaar Oct. 12

New Tripoli and Lynnport volunteer firefighters remind all residents to check the batteries in their smoke detectors during National Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 6-12. It only takes about five minutes and can save your life.

Ebenezer UCC, New Tripoli, will host its annual fall bazaar 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 12.

There will be a huge flea market, plus a smaller flea market for kids' games and toys.

The bake sale will include a wide array of baked goods, as well as homemade soups, jams and more.

Morgenland Church to host 'Made to Pray' author on Oct. 6

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, will have a special worldwide communion service 9 a.m. Oct. 6.

There will be a gathering with a praise band starting at 8:45 a.m. Guest speaker will be CS Heinz, author of "Made to Pray."

Children will be sharing their music during the service and there will be refreshments served afterward.

Game night is schedule for 4 p.m. Oct. 20. Bring along a covered dish or dessert.

Morgenland Church and Cemetery will be participating in "Wreaths Across America" Dec. 14.

Spread the word! On Oct. 2, Heidelberg Association for Retired Persons, better known as H.A.R.P. invites any retiree in the area to join them as they take a road trip to the Lehigh Gap Nature Center, Slatington.

H.A.R.P. members will first enjoy a leisurely lunch at Bert's Restaurant, Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, and then travel to the nature center for a one-hour tour.

Voters to rally in Harrisburg

Neighborhood Voter Network is inviting interested residents to a press rally 12:30-2 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Capitol Rotunda, N. Third and State sts., Harrisburg, to get the Property Tax Elimination Bill (HB 76 and SB 76) out of the committee for a vote this fall.

The NVN steering committee will travel by van 11 a.m. that day from Albany Township Elementary School, Route 737 Kempton.
