Between Christmas Day and New Year Day we should not wash or change clothing or we will have no luck.


With Christmas just around the corner, the Claussville Garden Club will host Denise Sanner, who will speak about "Design Your Own Holiday Card."

Morgenland Church offering Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 14

Christ's Church at Lowhill Food Pantry is accepting donations by appointment or by bringing donations 9-11 a.m. the last Saturday of the month or 9-11 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month. Do not drop off your donations at the door.

The facility is not always staffed and no one may be on-site to accept the items.

The Blessings Shop distributes clothing, toys, household items. The shop is open the same hours as the food pantry.

Heidelberg hosting community service

Great expectations! Heidelberg Union Church is sponsoring a huge community vendor fair from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 23.

Tastefully Simple, Scentsy, Thirty-One, Premiere, Avon, Pampered Chef and more will be represented.

Proceeds will benefit Heidelberg's God's Growing Preschool and No Limits youth group.

Lynnport turkey raffle Nov. 22

Happy Thanksgiving. What are you grateful for? I am grateful the kindness of strangers.

Whether it's help with loading groceries, a ride down the block, or holding a door open when I'm are running into a store, these little courtesies remind me to be thankful for people who are doing good for good's sake.


Lynnport Fire Company, New Tripoli, will have its annual turkey raffle with food, beverages and live music Nov. 22. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Weisenberg Lutheran Church will have its Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:30 p.m.

Exercise classes are offered 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Bring a mat and water to drink.

Albany Twp. Historical Society to present talk on early firearms

Next Monday, we honor the veterans, those who served and those who have passed on.

We are grateful for your service. And special gratitude goes to the families who have sacrificed as well.


Albany Township Historical Society will host Ron Gable for an informative talk about early firearms and their place in the lives of the first settlers of Pennsylvania and the Allemaengel area 7:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

The presentation will be at the historical society headquarters in Trexler.

Germansville Fire Co. craft show on Nov. 10

Craft favorites! On Nov. 10, the Germansville Fire Company is having a craft show 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

A large assortment of handcrafted items will be available in addition to tasty baked goods and refreshments from the kitchen.

Donations of any kind of baked goods for the bake sale are needed and always appreciated.

Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Road, New Tripoli, will host a Pa. Dutch worship service 2:30 p.m. Nov. 3.

The Rev. Guy Grube will deliver the message in the dialect. Special music, a children's choir and hand bells will be featured.

Pining for a pie? Germansville Fire Company is selling its famous shoofly pies for the Nov. 5 election.

Pick up your pies in the lower level of the fire company 1-4 p.m. Nov. 2 or during voting.

Ebenezer UCC Halloween party, costume contest on Oct. 26

Trick-or-Treat night in Lynn Township is set for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26.

Drive carefully and watch out for little goblins and ghosts walking along the roadways.


Ebenezer UCC, New Tripoli, will be hosting a Halloween costume party 6-9 p.m. Oct. 26.

After the kids have finished trick-or-treating, stop in for some Halloween fun! They are planning games and crafts for all.

There will be yummy and creepy snacks, as well as prizes for the best costumes.

Come and join the fun and bring a friend or two.
