As one travels around the Lehigh Valley, trucks may be seen traveling, parked in customers businesses, or hauling debris and junk promoting the Allentown Rescue Mission’s “The Clean Team,” a transitional return to work program of the Mission employing formerly homeless men.
Recently, the Mission added another vehicle to its fleet to serve a different purpose.
Seven years ago, the Allentown Rescue Mission put an article in its monthly newsletter looking for a licensed hairstylist willing to volunteer his or her time to cut the men’s hair.
Jennifer Anders immediately responded to the article, and a connection between her and the Mission was made.
Anders started as a hairstylist after graduating from Upper Bucks Vo-Tech High School in 1995.
Working for the Quakertown Hair Cuttery for the past 22 years, Anders has skillfully achieved the position as the senior designer II for the salon.
