Weisenberg Elementary students enjoyed some extra fun time on the playground Oct. 5 as a reward for the positive behavior they displayed since school began.
Games were organized by gym teacher Chris Klein and students also had special access to playground equipment, an art station and a bubble station.
Early dismissal and parent/teacher conferences for middle and elementary school students runs Nov. 16-21.
There will be early dismissal for middle school students 10:50 a.m. on those days.
Northwestern and Weisenberg elementary school will be dismissed at noon.
Students and staff will celebrate Veterans Day Nov. 9 with activities and events throughout the day.
They have also continued their tradition of recognizing veterans by placing their names on stars and hanging them on banners in the rotunda.
Students from Patti Greenawalt’s fifth-grade class learned how to be safe at home, school and within their community Oct. 5 at Northwestern Elementary School.
Kindergarten students learned how to dial 911.
They also learned the difficulties of being a firefighter and navigating through a burning house.
Some of them also were instructed on Halloween, farm and social media safety.
The Northwestern Lehigh Alumni Association is hosting a basket bingo at the Lynnport Fire Company on Oct. 28.
Doors open at noon. Bingo begins at 1 p.m.
Food will be available to purchase.
Wear a costume to be entered into a free raffle.
There will be an open house and dedication ceremony Nov. 8 for the community to visit the high school to view the upgrades made during the renovation.
Visitation will be 6-7:15 p.m. with the dedication and ribbon cutting taking place 7:30-8 p.m.
All visitors to NWE will be required to provide photo identification when signing in to the school.
Red Ribbon Week is Oct. 22-26.
The week is dedicated to creating an awareness of the dangers of drug abuse.
The Fall Fun Festival will take place 9 a.m. Oct. 26.
Kindergarten classes will be going on a field trip Oct. 29 to Foothill Farm, Lehighton. Rain date is Oct. 30.
Kindergarten students will be going to visit Savidge Farms, Mertztown, on Oct. 18.
Students from Northwestern Lehigh High School and some middle schoolers spent several weeks before the beginning of the school year learning band music and practicing for the field show they would perform during this year’s football games.
The students began by learning the drill positions on the field by counting beats, followed by singing their parts as they marched.
Once band director, James Lykins and Drum Major Jess Eberle say they are ready, band members pick up their instruments, flags and batons and play the music as they march.
Northwestern Lehigh Alumni Association is sponsoring a basket bingo fundraiser Oct. 28 at the Lynnport Fire Company, Behler Street, Lynnport.
Doors open at noon. Food will be available with bingo beginning at 1 p.m.
Bring a canned good for the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry.
There also will be a Chinese auction and door prizes.

The crowning of the homecoming queen and king will take place Oct. 5 during halftime of the football game against Southern Lehigh.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with the registration check-in tables open 8:45-9:45 a.m.

Back to School Night has been postponed. The new date is yet to be determined.
Middle school students are now located in their respective “temporary” schools.
Eighth grade is at the high school and sixth and seventh grade students are at Weisenberg.
There will be a Partners In Education meeting 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 in the cafeteria.
