Catty Corner wins TOC title

Sunday, August 18, 2019 by JEFF MOELLER in Sports

James Snyder always will have plenty of memories of the annual Tournament of Champions (TOC). It has been a part of his life as well as his family’s since his early days as a youth.

His father and head Catty boys’ basketball coach, Eric, instituted the tournament 30 years ago.

“I have been involved with the TOC since I was a little kid,” recalled Snyder. “I remember give Chris Michael, Gary Laubach, and Dick Tracy T-shirts at halftime.

“In high school, I was announcing in it. So, not just to play it, but also win it, makes the moment feel extra special for me.”

Tiger girls win District 11 title

Northwestern didn’t exactly have things go as planned in the early part of the game Tuesday night in its PIAA District 11 Class 2A final against Palisades at Parkland High School.

It was just a matter of making a halftime adjustment.

In a hard-fought and tight battle from start to finish, the Tigers took the bus ride back home with gold medals around their neck after a 3-2 victory that in large part was due to their second-half reset.
