If we learned anything about the Northwestern Lehigh basketball team this season it was that you can’t give up on the Tigers even when things don’t seem to be going in their favor.

Northwestern almost pulled off another come from behind win against Bethlehem Catholic Friday night, but in the end, the Golden Hawks were able to hang on and stretch out their lead late in the game for a 56-39 win in the District 11 4A quarterfinals.

The Tigers spent their time off getting healthy, with coach Billy Hallman scheduling a couple of days off from practice during that stretch.

The loss knocked Northwestern out of the Colonial League playoff picture.

The two teams exchanged leads throughout the first quarter, but Salisbury started to hit some shots in the second quarter.

Trey Weber’s jumper with 4:25 left before halftime put the Falcons up by four and they stretched it to six when Patrick Foley drove the lane to put Salisbury up 17-11. C

Northwestern Lehigh’s 49-14 win over Northern Lehigh late last week may have seemed like just another win for the Lady Tigers in an impressive season that they’ve put together. Actually, it was a much bigger win than it may have appeared on the surface since it locked up the West Division title for Northwestern and clinched a first-round bye in the Colonial League playoffs that begin early next month.
