Celebrate 'Night' on Aug. 15

School starts Aug. 31. It's hard to imagine summer will be over so soon.

Watch out for kids at school bus stops and walking along the roads. We have new bus drivers and new kids starting this year. Best of academic success to all students.

Northwestern Recreation Commission is hosting the 17th annual "Night in the Country" 4-10 p.m. Aug. 15. Rain date is on Aug. 16.

There will be live music, car cruise, DJ, Chinese auction, bingo, a firefighters' competition, plus great food and activities.

Summer is in full swing. You know summer is here by the number of people who are out and about.

Just a note of caution: Be careful driving.

You'll be sharing the road with cyclists, runners and walkers. And, don't forget to drive carfully around cars stopping for yard sales.

Everest Vacation Bible School will be hosted from 6-8:45 p.m. July 19-23 at New Life Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6804 Weiss Road, New Tripoli.

At Everest, kids will discover what it means to hold on to God's mighty power in everyday life.

As we enjoy our picnics, firework displays and parades, may we all be mindful liberty is expensive and hard-fought.

And, those who surrender liberty for security, have neither.

Ebenezer UCC, New Tripoli, announces Vacation Bible School, called "Everest: Conquering Challenges with God's Might Power" will run from 6-8:30 p.m. July 19-23.

VBS is open to kids ages 3 to fifth grade.

Ebenezer's clothing closet will be open 6-8 p.m. July 9 and 10 a.m.-noon July 11.

School's out. Summer will soon officially begin and strawberry, peach, apple dumpling and other delicious festivals are getting underway.

There are free clothes for the entire family.

Proof of need is not required. Clothing donations are not being accepted at this time.

Albany churches hosting dinner

Friedens Church, Stony Run, and New Bethel and Jerusalem "Red" Church, Kempton, are hosting a chicken potpie dinner, 5-7:30 p.m. April 25 at the Kempton Rod and Gun Club.

Meal includes potpie, sides, dessert and drinks.

All proceeds go to local food banks and charities.

Ebenezer's egg hunt on April 4

Ebenezer Church, New Tripoli, will have its Maundy Thursday Service 7:30 p.m. April 2. Good Friday's Passion Walk will be 9 a.m. April 3 and the Easter egg hunt will be at 1 p.m. April 4. Hunt for eggs, win prizes, enjoy refreshments and meet the Easter Bunny.
