South Africa was a spectacular trip of a lifetime for seven residents of Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks counties.
Betsy Hauser of New Tripoli, Debbie and Dennis Barr of South Whitehall, Rose Marie Kandrac from Warminster, Sharon Fournier of Bath, and Barbara and Tom Campbell of Lower Macungie started their trip in Sandton, a suburb of Johannesburg, a modern city and the financial district of South Africa.
The group visited April 24-May 7, considered that country’s late fall and early winter.
The Parkland Garden Club recently hosted the District ll/lll meeting, with this reporter as the district’s director.
These meetings are a way to network with other clubs and to learn and share ideas on programs and different projects.
Chris Leskosky, GCFP president, attended the meeting.
One highlight of the meeting was the judging three Trash to Treasurers entries.
Connie Donklan’s entry from the Bethlehem Garden Club won first place. Brenda Aubert’s wheelbarrel took second and the entry from the Reading Club came in third.
A group of Lehigh Valley travelers recently took a nine-day tour of Nova Scotia and the Maritime Provinces.
Barbara and Tom Campbell of Lower Macungie organized the trip through Premier Travel.
