Washington Township supervisors adopted a resolution during their Sept. 3 meeting to contribute $50,000 in each of the next five years to the Northern Lehigh Recreation Association.

Walnutport and Slatington have also signed a resolution to this effect. The three municipalities are working toward a community center. The township has also applied for grants.

The Heidelberg Union Church 5K and kids 1 mile race will begin 9 a.m. Sept. 21. This will require a two-hour closing of several township roads including: Werley Street and portions of Best Station and Irvin Street.

Supervisors also agreed to dispose of earned income tax records for the years 2008 to 2011 will be disposed of. The state allows this after seven years.
