NWE students raise funds for assemblies, field trips

Students at Northwestern Elementary were recently on a “Castle Quest.”

This was the theme of their third annual Fun Run Boosterthon to raise funds for assemblies and field trips.

The students met Boosterthon members — Mermaid Milly, Rocket Ronnie, Breakaway Bree, A+ Abby and Amazing Ali, the team leader, who would be helping the school raise its goal of $20,000.

The Boosterthon team transformed the gymnasium using glow sticks and glow items.

Parents were invited to watch their children run around the track and cheer them on.

Students ran 30 to 35 laps with each lap being marked on the back of their T-shirt as they passed the starting point.

Principal Maria Pulli and the Boosterthon team had several challenges for the student body.

If they raised $10,000, the Boosterthon team would be taped to the wall.

If they earned $15,000, Pulli would be taped to the wall, and if they met their goal of $20,000, the students will see Pulli slimed.
