Electrical fire

State Police Troop L, Hamburg, say firefighters from Hamburg Borough and surrounding communities responded 4:12 a.m. Jan. 13 for a fire at Victory Chapel Ministries, 419 Franklin St., Hamburg.

Police say firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire.

Troop L Fire Marshal Unit was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Police say the origin of the fire was in the ceiling area in the basement furnace room and the cause was electrical.

State Police Troop L Hamburg say William T. Muffley III, 28, of Allentown, was driving his vehicle eastbound along I-78 in Greenwich Township at 7:08 a.m. Jan. 14 when he drove over a large patch of ice and lost control of the vehicle which struck a dirt embankment and flipped onto its roof.

The vehicle then crossed both lanes of travel and come to rest along the center median on its roof.

A passer-by assisted Muffley out of his vehicle until EMS arrived on the scene.

Muffley, who was wearing his seat belt, sustained a broken arm, multiple facial lacerations and broken bones.

He was transported by Hamburg EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

Lenhartsville Fire Department assisted with traffic control.

State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, say Timothy Patrick Croughn Jr., of 2117 S. Lehigh St., Whitehall, reported his license plate was stolen from his vehicle sometime between Dec. 30-31, 2017, while the vehicle was parked at Ruheton Hill and Jordan Roads, Lowhill Township.

According to police, Croughn’s vehicle was disabled due to poor weather conditions.

Tow trucks were unable to recover the vehicle, and it remained on the scene overnight, police say. During that time, the license plate was removed.

The plate was recovered in the woods close to the vehicle’s location, police say.
