Northwestern at Flo Tournament at Wilkes University

The Tigers finished eighth in a field that included some of the top teams in the state and others from outside of Pennsylvania.

Wednesday, Dec. 16

Northwestern-

Catasauqua

Northwestern cruised to a win over Catasauqua, 63-6.

The Tigers’ Baily Wehr, Jarett White, Jacob Murray and Zach Anderson all won by fall during the rout. Three of those pins (White, Murray and Anderson) occurred less than a minute into the bouts.

The win improves the Tigers to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in Colonial League matches. They are also the top-ranked team in the District 11 index for Class AA, which helps determine seeding for team districts.

The Tigers have a busy upcoming schedule. They faced Palmerton on Tuesday and Pen Argyl on Wednesday, which were both after Press deadlines. See next week’s issue for results.

Northwestern will compete in the annual Bethlehem Holiday Classic Monday and Tuesday of next week.

The Tigers will return to league action when Wilson travels to New Tripoli on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Northwestern beat one of its newest Colonial League rivals, Moravian Academy, 47-35.

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Erika Thomas with 19 points, while Leighanna Leister had 11 and Abigail Chisdak added 10.

For the Lions, Neelam Ferrari scored nine.

With the win, Northwestern improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Colonial League play.

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in beating Northern Lehigh 69-29.

Erika Thomas scored a team-high 18 points while teammate Leighanna Lister added 15.

The win was the 200th in the 13-year head coaching career of Tiger mentor Chris Deutsch.

Rob Seyfried’s 28 points led Northwestern to a 59-49 Colonial League win over Moravian Academy.

Seyfried converted 12 of 15 free throws, while teammate Brady Mengel added 13.

For the Red Lions, Jordan Holmqvist led the way with 17 points, including five three pointers.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in Colonial League play.

Northwestern also won the JV contest, 45-38.
