Bid on piano to the stars
Musikfest fans, collectors and music aficionados from throughout the United States will have a chance to own a piece of music history when ArtsQuest holds its second-annual ArtsQuest Anniversary Party at SteelStacks, 6 - 10 p.m. April 26, the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.
The fundraiser, celebrating the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks' second birthday and Musikfest's 30th anniversary, will feature the kickoff of a nationwide auction of the Musikfest piano, a Young Chang grand player piano that includes keys signed by more than 50 artists who have performed at the festival over the years. At the ArtsQuest anniversary party, guests will enjoy an evening filled with food, music by the Baby Soda Jazz Band, and a cash bar
On display will be the piano, which will be up for auction through the end of Musikfest Aug. 11. The piano, signed by 52 artists who played at Musikfest between 1998 and 2002, was donated by Musikfest official piano and tuning services provider John Zeiner of John J. Zeiner & Sons, and has been on display at Lehigh Valley International Airport since 2004.
Performers whose signatures appear on the piano's keys include Tony Bennett, Ray Charles, Rosemary Clooney, Huey Lewis, Gladys Knight, Robert Cray, Wayne Newton, Kenny Rogers and David Sanborn. A list of artist signatures is available at artsquest.org. Details on the auction and bidding will be posted online as soon as available.
Anniversary party guests may also bid on Musikfest memorabilia and items throughout the evening, including front-row tickets to Musikfest 2013 main stage shows including Ke$ha, Carly Rae Jepsen and Darius Rucker; and framed Musikfest posters from 2002 - '12, with signatures from the headlining artists.
Proceeds from the event and the auctions support ArtsQuest's music, arts and education programming for the community including more than 700 free concerts the nonprofit presents annually.

D&L dinner: The Delaware & Lehigh Heritage Partnership Celebration & Dinner is April 18, Hotel Bethlehem, Main Street, Bethlehem.
The event, which honors colleagues and community partners, launches the D&L's 25th anniversary.
The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. Dinner is at 6:30. The event concludes at 9 p.m.
Honorees are Susan Taylor, Lifetime Achievement Award; Lehigh County Parks and Recreation, Heritage Development Award; Peter and Carol Kern, Leadership Award; and Bridge Street Foundation, Stewardship Award.

"Novel" event: The Allentown Public Library's 3rd Annual "A Novel Affair" Gala is 6 - 9:30 p.m. April 20, at the library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown.
The fundraiser includes food samplings from area caterers, restaurants and bakeries and a silent auction.

St. Luke's donation: St. Luke's Department of Pediatrics has received a donation from the board of the Northampton County Medical Society Alliance (NCMSA) in honor of Doctors' Day, March 30.
"I am honored to accept this contribution on behalf of St. Luke's," said Jennifer Janco, MD, St. Luke's University Health Network's Chief of Pediatrics.
In 2006, NCMSA created Health, Education and Literacy Programs (HELP) fund grants.
NCMSA, to date, has awarded $38,000 to local non-profit groups, including $10,000 to purchase laptops for the "Reading Rocks" program, $7,200 to the Third Street Alliance Shelter, $4,600 to the Weller Health Education Center, $2,000 to the Easton Area Neighborhood Center and $4,000 to Stop Texting and Distracted Driving.
Since 1985, NCMSA has provided loans and scholarships to local medical, nursing and physician-assistant students.
In the past seven years, NCMSA representatives have held preschool classes and taught more than 1,500 preschool children about germs and healthy hand washing with the "Henry the Hand" program.
