lifelong self-employed farmer

Arlan R. Kunkel, 83, of Steinsville, Kempton, died Aug. 10, 2012, in Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Allentown.

He and his wife Eva J. (Hemerly) Kunkel celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in January.

Born in Steinsville, he was a son of the late Calvin P. and Lila J. (Frey) Kunkel.

He loved being a lifelong self-employed farmer in the Steinsville and Lynn Township areas.

He was a member of the Kempton Rod and Gun Club; the Kempton and Lynnport fire companies as well as a member of the Patriotic Order of the Sons of America, Philadelphia.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Roy R. and his wife Ruthanne, of Kempton; daughters, Linda S., wife of Roy Gruber, of Auburn, and Lori A., wife of Gary Zellner, of Lenhartsville; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Nester Funeral Home, Jacksonville, Lynn Township.
